What do the rating numbers really
mean?
The rating numbers are government standards used to compare unit
efficiency. The higher the rating, the more efficient the model is
to run. Here are some of the most common.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) -Used to rate cooling efficiency.
HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor) - Used to rate heat pump
efficiency.
AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) - Used to rate gas furnace
efficiency.

Should I set the thermostat
fan to "ON" or "AUTO"?
Most people chose to set the fan to "auto"
so that it runs only when there is a need to deliver warm or cool air to
the house. Others set the fan to "on" so that it will run at all
times. By doing this, they aquire constant air filtering, and a more
evenly distrubuted temperature throughout the house.

Can I finance my new Trane unit?
Yes, there are numerous methods of paying
for your new Trane unit. Of course your bank or credit union are good sources
for securing a loan, and a home improvement loan from them may be tax deductible.
However, Trane also offers a loan program to help with customer financing
needs. Contact Performance Heating & Cooling for more information on
the Trane loan program.

Should I cover my outdoor unit
in the winter?
There is no need to cover your unit. Air conditioners are built
to withstand all possible climate changes, from the cold of winter to the
blazing heat of summer.

How close to the outdoor unit
can I plant shrubs?
It is generally accepted that plants should
be set back at least 18 inches from the unit. This will allow the
air conditioner to take in and exhaust air efficiently so that it may operate
at optimum level.

Will anything help control the
humidity in my house?
Having a unit that runs longer at lower speeds, such as is with
the Trane variable speed air handling equipment. Because the air is moving
more slowly across the cooling coils, there is more time to remove moisture
from the air, thus lowering the humidity in the house.
